Hello, everybody! Sorry for the lack of posts recently. I am currently in the middle of moving on top of preparing for my study abroad trip to South Korea. Things are quite hectic over here for the Bori household. I hope you all understand! Anyways, do you remember me mentioning that I went to Los Angeles a few weeks back? Well, here are some picture from my trip to the Getty Center!
Tram up to the Getty Center
Brochures available in multiple languages
Even the water fountains are fancy here.
My dad really appreciated this.
Floor layout of the Getty Center
Free umbrellas to borrow as parasols
iPod Touch available for free use if you want to do a self-guided tour
This one was my favorite because I found out through the self-guided iPod tour that Mary Magdalene’s cloak is shining because Jesus’s light is reflecting upon it. I originally thought that her cloak was just golden. I guess that goes to show how little I know about art.
Collection Highlights Tour
This here is a copy, but I’ve been lucky enough to see the original at Versailles!
The trees are intentionally lined up to appear as just one.
When the sun is angled just right, a shadow forms on the ground to represent a grand piano.
Travertine, a rock used to build the Colosseum in Rome, is featured everywhere in the Getty Center.
The architecture tour was very insightful and allowed me to understand the thought behind the design process.
